Which has been better 2009 NHL or NBA playoffs?

Published by kchofmann at 5:56 pm under sports Edit This

All thou this might be in the eye of the beholder but in my eyes the NBA had a unbelievable first round of playoffs.  With the baby Bulls pushing the defending Champs, the Celtics to seven games and the Denver Nuggets surprising everyone out west their was no question the first round has gone to the NBA.

However the king of the second round has got to go to the NHL.  Perhaps the two best players in the league right now are about to play their seventh game in the second round.  Alexander Ovechkin from the Washington Capitols and Sidney Crosby the Pittsburgh Penguin are the future of the NHL and are all tied at 3 with both teams one win away and a the chance to play in the Eastern Conference Finals.

In Western Conference the Chicago Blackhawks have been reborn as they ae the first team to reach the final four of hockey.  One of the first six original hockey teams and they have come a long way as it is their first Conference Final since 1995. That was way back when Chris Chelios, Jeremy Roenick and Eddie Belfor were the kings of Chicago.  Now there are three new kings they are Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Nickolai Khabibulan.

What is even greater and perhaps building for a better conference final than the NBA is that the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks are heading for a collison course that any original fan of hockey will be mightily interested.  My proof, the fact that millions watched the game played in Wrigley Field on News year Day.  That game was a regular season game and it was the highest rated game and for good reason two teams that have a very rich history and a renewed rivalry.

The only way the NBA can eclipse the NHL playoffs is if Lebron James and Kobe Bryant meet in the Finals.  Both of these guys are on a collsion course that any fan would be just thrilled to see.  Lebron who won the MVP this year against last year’s MVP Kobe Bryant!  Now that match up might eclipse the NHL playoffs but for now I am glued to the NHL Playoffs as the Blackhawks are back and the NHL is exciting again.  You can even say last year’s NHL Playoffs were pretty good and this year has been 10 times better.

Without question the NHL playoffs have been much better than the NBA. However I will say that the NBA playoffs are a little more intense this year.

Nothing compares to the NHL Playoffs
