Rooting for the Penguins

Published by kchofmann under sports Edit This

In Chicago most of my life there are universal traits that a chicago sports fan most follow. Of course the biggest is the love and hate relationship with the White Sox and Cubs. However, back in the eighties and early nineties, Chicago was a hockey town until the Chicago Bulls won all of those championships. Why do I say this because the Red Wings are in the Stanley Cup Finals and as a Blackhawks fan I most oppose this winning tradition of the Red Wings once and for all.

Go Penguins, because the Red Wings are the biggest enemy of any loyal balckhawk fan. Unless you are talking about the 1992 Final where the Penguins beat the Hawks. In spite of that, the Red Wings and Blackhawks are rivals and if you are a Hawks fan then, let us pull for the Sydney Crosby led Pittsburgh Penguins.

I just watched game three of the Stanley Cup Final and it was a great game. Going into this game Pittsburgh had not been allowed a goal yet as Detroit won the first two games in shutout fashion. Well Sydney Crosby as what great players do they showed up when they had to and he scored two goals in a 3 to 2 win.

Hockey analyists are talking that Crosby is the next Wayne Gretzky and if he wants that comparison to hold true he needs to show up and beat one of the biggest franchises in hockey history. Detroit has dominated hockey for almost a decade and it is time for them to be taken off the top of the mountain. We as Chicago fans most rally and begin to bring Hockeytown back to Chicago. With the Hawks finishing with a promising year and beating the Red Wings more than they beat us, despite Detroit having the best record in the NHL, the rivalry will be ignited again. So let us start now and begin bringing down the mighty Red Wings and root for the Penguins. If you want a break form the NBA playoffs then I say you go watch game 4 on Saturday and root for the Penguins.

Buerlie Buried Again by Tribe

Published by kchofmann under sports Edit This

Mark Buerlie had another tough outing against the Indians.  His first inning of work was enough for Cleveland to claim victory.  Buerlie has had tendencay this year where if the opposition hits him early he is not as affective. That is what you live with when you have a contact pitcher like Buerlie.  He will not overpower but he when he hits his spots he has no-hitter stuff like last year.

This was a bad start but he has shown signs of  recoverery and I imagine the White Sox are allowing him to just work it out.  It is funny that Buerlie a year ago was our best and now he has the worst record of any starter for the Sox.  The Sox beleive he will not tank like the 06 season and by going through that streak of losing he has become more aware of when things are going bad.  Its mostly why they gave him a new contract last year while Jon Garland was traded for Orlando Cabrerea.

I say do not worry Buerlie is the least of our concerns and the Sox fan’s should show patience.  At least the rest of the staff has picked him up lately and for closure the Indians have always been Buerlie’s hardest teams to beat.

Briggs Backing the Bears

Published by kchofmann under sports Edit This

In case you missed it, Lance Briggs was in Bristol Connecticut at ESPN yesterday. He stopped by the many shows of ESPN to help promote the Bears. Briggs really did speak out about many of the off-season questions that had to be asked. Briggs responded as a teammate should and supported his players.

Briggs spoke on behalf of Brian Urlacher and his hold-out for more money and a new contract. Briggs stated as Urlacher stated last year when Briggs held out that he is Urlacher’s number one fan. Briggs understands Urlacher’s demands simply by stating the city of Chicago owes Uralcher for all he has done for th Bears. The Bears are a winning club when Brian Urlacher takes the field and as Briggs stated that is a fact the Bears organization should recognize.

Briggs also stated that “Cedric Benson simply got beat up.” Briggs backed his underachieving running back as he defended him and that he was caught up in a bad situation. Briggs thought Benson was taken advantage of and that he should not be labeled the bad guy. Briggs even saying that the running back was in all workouts at Bears mini camp and that is enough for Briggs to back up his teammate.

Of course Briggs was asked about the quarterback position and he again was in full support of the team. He stated “we have two quarterbacks with one year deals and it is up to them as in Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton to lead this team.” One must step up and make or break their career in Chicago and if one does that then he will most likely get a longer contract and stay with the Bears.”

Lastly, Lance Briggs will pull out the number 54 as mini camps continue. The jester is in response to Urlacher doing it for Briggs last year as he wore 55 in mini-camp. I guess Lovie Smith team is feeling the love and preparing for the upcoming season as they will need each other if they want to erase last year’s disappointing season.

Hello world!

Published by kchofmann under sports Edit This

Welcome to superdad’s first blog on Today.com. First off, I would like to give Today.com a big thanks for allowing me to continue to work and strengthen my writing. I will take full advantage of the opportunity and do the best I can to impress newcomers at Today.com.

For those who do view my page you will see a mixture of everything. I enjoy writing about what is now and what of course drives me. I am a big sports fan, a habitual viewer of all sorts of television, movies and of course a father that enjoys the time I have with my family. The one thing I always do as I write is too inform what is really important.

You may agree or disagree on what I say but at least I am getting you to think about a topic that is of public concern. I will talk politics music and really anything that is on my mind. You see I use writing as a way to journalize my life which always is fun for me because I am giving a piece of me every time I write.

You may even be turned away by some of my favorite things I write about however at the same notion there are those out there that will listen because I will relate to them and their interests. People in general should speak their minds and not be scared of who is listening because there are always others out there looking for your same kind of reasoning or perception.

I have actually realized that I am worth a lot in terms of information because of the various roles I have played in my life. I know this because I have been validated by those who have read my writing. We as people enjoy being noticed and recognized for doing good and I am just following those who still enjoy tuning in and seeing what I have wrote about ; if you choose to comment please do, because I accept all sort of criticism as long as it is not directed towards my family. I am a firm believer in constructive criticism so do not feel bad if you have to make a note. For example, “superdad you are the worse writer I have ever seen!” I will take that as a compliment because you actually called me a writer.

When you think of a writer you think of a grand novelist or Hollywood tabloid reporter or even a journalist and that is not me, yet and until I get there you can make all of the comments you want to voice.

Looking forward, I will get you caught up on what you might of missed during the week or weekend and if I do miss something of grand importance then I failed you and you may discontinue viewing my blog. Just kidding remember I am a father of two who is working hard to make their world just a little bit easier.

I will talk about Chicago sports, local and world news and entertainment that caches my eye. I hope you will enjoy superdad’s blog and keep checking in time from time and tell a friend what you read at Today.com.
